J. Ernest Baird, Esq. is a founder and managing partner of Baird Williams & Greer, LLP. He has been rated AV by Martindale-Hubbel, which identifies a lawyer with very high to preeminent legal ability. Baird has more than 38 years of experience representing companies large and small, including Fortune 500 companies, in major real estate transactions, commercial leases and contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and complex construction claims and disputes.
Baird was born in Tempe, Arizona. He lived in Argentina from 1963-1965, where he learned to speak, read and write Spanish. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1968 and earned his J.D. degree from Duke Law School in 1971. While attending Duke Law School, he served as a member of the Duke Law Journal Editorial Board from 1969-1971.
Following law school, Baird worked at the law firm of Shearman & Sterling in New York, New York. Baird served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1972-1976. In 1991, he became a member of the Arizona House of Representatives and was the Chairman of the House of Judiciary Committee from 1993-1994. Baird served as the Majority Leader in the House for the last two years of his service.
